Liberty Ale by Anchor Brewing Company (California)

This little gem of an Ale was the first to start the Craft Beer revolution! It has been brewed since 1975, by Anchor Brewing’s founder, Fritz Maytag. This beer pours a clear golden color in the glass as it builds a nice frothy medium white head. The aromas are of floral citrus fruit such as grapefruit and orange. This is followed by sweet malts that balance out the bouquet. This brew is an Ale that wants to be a subtle IPA! This was the early flavor blueprint for the West Coast IPA style. Very nice!

This exotic wittier pours a clear straw color into your glass, as it builds a medium white head. The kaleidoscope of aromas from this brew are interesting, as you get notes of lemon, slight green tea, slight citrus rind, white pepper and slight coriander. The flavors are delicate as well with lemon, coriander, green tea and a light lime. This session beer comes in with a “I’ll have another, please” 4.8% ABV, so not only is the body light on this brew, but it’s refreshing as well!

New Dogtown Pale Ale by Lagunitas (California)
This Ale pours a clear gold color in the glass and builds a nice frothy medium white head!.The aromas from this are grassy and citrus notes, along with a mellow maltiness to balance. This Pale Ale is sure to be a “Hop-Head’s” favorite, as the hoppy bitter citrus flavors wake your tongue on the first sip. The bitter lingers a little in the front and mid palette, but then balances out cleanly with the malt, for a nice crisp finish.

Not Your Father’s Ginger Ale by Small Town Brewing (Illinois)
A true ginger ale, brewed with real ginger and has the head and mouthfeel of an ale, but don't expect it to taste like beer! This one has a stronger bite than some from both the ginger and the alcohol content, not much like a plain ginger ale soda and not like a cheap watery beer. You also get a slight pininess that’s mellowed out by the malt’s sweetness. The flavors are beautiful citrus notes across the palette with a nice, semi-sweet malt balance.
